Here's another event that Make A Wish arranged for the wish kids and their families. We've actually been invited twice by the Lone Star Corvette Club. The first time it was blazing hot outside but we were well provided for by the club and MAW. Probably the highlight was the helicopter ride. The supply and demand for the helicopter was unexpectedly exceeded and so I volunteered to stay behind. Tatum was so upset as you can see in one picture. The pilot made it up to her by having her co-pilot. She sat in the front and got to take the stick. Hannah just kept telling Sherry, "I not scared." Either she wasn't scared or it was a nervous reaction to being scared. I think it was a neat experience for them both. Then Tatum got to ride around the track with Corvette owners that paid for laps. She met some really neat guys that learned a lot about her during their track time. Our second trip to the Corvette Classic had cooler weather and no helicopter. That gave Tatum more opportunities to get laps. Her top speed for the day was 124 in the red convertible. Very nice car. We're thankful to all the MAW, the club and car owners for the special treat. |
